I've spent my whole career with one foot in engineering and one in sales. I started as a bike mechanic who just wanted to hang out on the tools but kept getting pulled onto the sales floor. I was never able to escape that pattern, so I've grown to love it instead. I do my best work in the space where the two meet: connecting technical requirements to business goals, shipping code that moves the bottom line, and designing the tooling and process behind fulfilled, calm, productive teams.
For over a decade, I've been a strong individual contributor with an unyielding entrepreneurial drive, and that drive keeps pulling me deep into the business end of things. At the end of the day, it's really about people for me. I've never identified as a salesperson. My skill lies in listening to problems and offering solutions. They just happen to cost money.
We're in an era where code is cheap and a few sentences are all it takes to bring an idea to life. It's never been more fun and exciting to ship thousands of lines of code that don't move the needle.
How do we identify and focus on the efforts that will?

Co-Founder & CEO
Springloaded, Vancouver, BC (remote)
I started Springloaded as a solo practice in 2022, then co-founded it with Owen Conti on a $4k initial investment in 2023, and we grew to $2.1M in annual revenue by 2025. We're an engineering consultancy specializing in Laravel - we embed senior engineers in client teams, rebuild how those teams plan, ship and deploy, and scale headcount up or down with the roadmap.
- Hired our first engineers in FY2023 and reached seven-figure revenue within 12 months, on relationships alone, with no sales or marketing function.
- Developed Springloaded Ventures: our in-house product incubator that funded initiatives like Croft: the leading edge Laravel MCP server developed by Ashley Hindle that would later become Laravel Boost, with 40M+ installs.
- Nettwerk Music Group: scaled a team of 10 developers and 2 designers, building their internal platform, developing engineering processes and standards that completely reshaped engineering and product design.
- College Advising Corps: rebuilt GRACE, their mission-critical student advising platform, from scratch in 18 months, designed with a panel of the advisors who use it every day.
- Ran a profit share for contractors and employees: each quarter, 20% of net profits paid out to any worker who contributed 240+ hrs within the quarter, split by hours worked, with single-quarter payout pools topping $20k.
- Built a hiring process that screened 8,000+ applications across 10 postings, growing the team to 12 developers and designers.

Principal Developer
Briteweb, Vancouver
- Returned to individual contributor work, taking ownership of technical delivery and product vision for GRACE, College Advising Corps' student advising platform.
- College Advising Corps: pitched CAC's executive team and CEO on what GRACE could become, winning Briteweb a significant contract extension.
- Played a key role in the greenfield build that followed: a knowledge-sharing platform extending GRACE's capabilities.
- –
Development Manager
Briteweb, Vancouver
- Owned the full product lifecycle from scoping to client delivery, accountable for up to 12 shipped websites and web apps a year.
- Managed 3 full-time staff, up to 10 contractors and Briteweb's partner agencies, and built growth plans and career paths for the full-time team.
- Advised leadership in strategic planning, aligning long-term technical strategy with business and operational goals.
- –
Technical Lead
Briteweb, Vancouver
- College Advising Corps: scoped, designed and built GRACE, an automated SMS platform connecting thousands of students from underrepresented communities with college advisors.
- Planned and led a technical strategy to pay down debt on Briteweb's flagship product.
- Overhauled and standardized the internal development stack, drastically reducing maintenance spend. The tools and processes stayed in use long after I left.
- Built a single source of truth for all dev documentation, with a PWA front end.

My freelance practice. I started finding clients after my first semester studying web development at SAIT, and almost always kept at least one alongside every full-time role since. Freelancing was how I pushed my career in the direction I wanted it to go. I built countless WordPress themes, dozens of open source projects, and many small applications. A few of these hit serious scale:
- Epic Rides: designed and built the booking engine for a Whistler shuttle operator. It processes seven figures in bookings a year for more than 200,000 passengers - still in production.
- vue-select: created vue-select, an open-source combobox component for Vue.js with 75M+ downloads.
- –
Full Stack Developer
Network Innovations, Vancouver
- Won over a Java-first team to build our mission-critical web application on Laravel, the start of my Laravel career.
- Designed the system architecture and built microservices to store and parse hundreds of millions of records.
- Introduced CI/CD with automated unit, integration and end-to-end test suites.
- Introduced code reviews and pair programming across the development team.
- –
Account Executive
Network Innovations, Calgary
Held in parallel with my web developer role. Sales leadership pulled me into sales because I could build relationships and explain technical solutions in a way that won deals, so I kept one foot in sales and one in technical work.
- Managed dealer and end-user sales across 15 states in the northeastern US.
- –
Web Developer
Network Innovations, Calgary
- Championed the launch of a worldwide corporate rebrand, merging 3 companies into a single identity and website.
- Worked directly with primary stakeholders to design and build critical features for the corporate website.
- Monitored and analyzed web traffic and conversion rates, and ran A/B tests.
- –
Senior Sales Representative
The Cyclepath, Calgary
I started as a mechanic, building bikes in the back. Ownership moved me onto the sales floor because I connected with customers and sold bikes, the first time I'd be pulled between technical work and sales. It wouldn't be the last. Represented the company at national events and helped manage stock ordering.

Everything you wish the HTML <select> element could do, as a lightweight, extensible Vue component. It filled a gap; no such component existed in the Vue ecosystem when I shipped it. Used by teams at Uber, GitLab and Sentry.
Springloaded's setup for AI-assisted Laravel development. A Docker Sandboxes kit that gives any agent an isolated sandbox, and a skills library of Springloaded's Laravel and GitHub conventions.
A bike-park ride tracker. It records a day of lift-accessed riding, detects chairlift and gondola rides, strips the lift-assisted vert, and posts the cleaned ride to Strava: "every meter you actually climbed."
